MRS. ELLA GALLAGHER DIES IN ATLANTIC CITY Mrs. Ella Franey Gallagher, former prominent resident of Shenandoah and a member of a pioneer family here, passed away yesterday afternoon at Atlantic City. Born in Shenandoah, a daughter of the late James. J. and Bridget (Ferguson) Franey, she was educated in the local schools and was a graduate of Bloomsburg State Normal School. Her husband, Dr. John C. Gallagher, died in 1928. He was the principle figure in establishing the Locust Mt. State Hospital in Shenandoah. Mrs. Gallagher retired several years ago and in January of this year, moved to Atlantic City. She served as a supervisor and director of for the National Youth Administration and at one time engaged as director in the Junior League Department of the Waldorf Astoria Hotel, New York City. Possessing a benevolent disposition, Mrs. Gallagher took particular interest in the development of character among the youth of the community. The deceased was a member of the Annunciation Church. Surviving are two sons, F. Norton Gallagher, of Hazleton, and John C. Gallagher, Pottsville; six grandchildren and two sisters, Mrs. Martha Vogan, Pittsburgh; Mrs. Irene Hackett, Philadelphia; two brothers, Mart Franey, Philadelphia, and James J. Franey, local funeral director. Several nieces and nephews also survive. The funeral will be conducted on Saturday from the Franey Funeral Home at Coal and Jardin Streets, services at 9a.m. Solemn Requiem Mass will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. in the Annunciation Church. Interment will follow in the Annunciation Cemetery. Viewing will begin at 7 p.m. Friday and continue until burial. James J. Franey is funeral director. (Shenandoah Evening Herald, May 4, 1961.) MRS. ELLA FRANEY GALLAGHER Funeral services for Mrs. Ella Franey Gallagher were held at 9 a.m. today from the Franey Funeral Home. Solemn Requiem mass was celebrated at 9:30 in Annunciatio BVM Church by Rev. Harold Dagle. Deacon was Rev. William Jones and sub-deacon was Rt. Rev. Msgr. C.V. O'Brien. Father Dagle presided at absolution, and Father Jones conducted committed services. Burial was in the parish cemetery. Pallbearers were: James Vogan, Martin Franey, Jr., Joseph P.
